Only FRU 26R0836 and 26K4859 are affected Also please ref Retain tip " PCI Configuration Errors after adding BladeCenter Fibre HBA" for more detail information. 2.0 CHANGE HISTORY Version 1.00 released at 1/31/05 The utility version 1.00 will fix the problems with following symptoms: - After adding the BladeCenter Fibre Channel Expansion Adapter you receive the following error messages: " Errors; PCI Configuration Error" - Failure to boot from SAN after adding the BladeCenter Fibre Channel Expansion Adapter. - Cannot enter QLogic BIOS ("CNTL Q") during the system boot. All other operation will function normally 3.0 Installation and Setup Instructions fcupdate.exe is the utility for IBM HS20 Fibre Channel Expansion Adapter (FRU 26R0836) fcsffupd.exe is the utility for eServer BladeCenter SFF Fibre Channel Expansion Adapter (FRU 26K4859) 3.1 Step by step instructions for this code update 1. Format a floppy diskette 2. Run this utility and it will create a DOS boot able diskette by used the diskette created at the step one. 3. Using this diskette to boot the blade system with the expansion card with the PCI configuration error. 4. After complete the system boot, type “update” at command line C: (if is HS20 Fibre Channel Expansion card) type "SFF_upd" at command line C:(if is eServer BladeCenter SFF Fibre Channel Expansion card Note: During the card BIOS/NVRAM update, the second I/O address will show an error similar as “ERROR, easing flash at I/O address xxxx” This is normal and can be ignored. 5. Take the floppy diskette out the system after completed the update, and reboot the system. The “PCI configuration error” will be disappearing. 3.2 Other: Warning: This utility should ONLY be used to update a new Fibre Channel Expansion card with the symptoms mentioned above.
