The DirectorAgent UIM for NetView should be installed after NetView is installed. The DirectorAgent UIM is distributed for use with the following operating systems: o Red Hat Linux, versions 7.2 and 7.3 o SUSE LINUX, versions 7.2, 7.3, and 8.0 2.0 CHANGE HISTORY This is the first release of the DirectorAgent UIM for NetView on Linux. 3.0 INSTALLING AND UNINSTALLING THE DirectorAgent UIM RPM The DirectorAgent UIM RPM can be installed on any system that is running Linux and NetView. 3.1 Installing the DirectorAgent UIM RPM Complete the following steps to install the DirectorAgent UIM RPM: 1. Verify that the system has NetView installed and properly configured. 2. From a command prompt, type the following command and press Enter: rpm -ivh nvuim--5.10-1.i386.rpm where is one of the following strings: o redhat for systems running Red Hat Linux o suse for systems running SUSE LINUX 3.2 Uninstalling the DirectorAgent UIM RPM Complete the following steps to uninstall the DirectorAgent UIM RPM: 1. Type the following command and press Enter: rpm -e nvuim--5.10-1 where is one of the following strings: o redhat for systems running Red Hat Linux o suse for systems running SUSE LINUX When you run this command, the DirectorAgent UIM is unloaded, and all DirectorAgent UIM related files are removed from your system. 4.0 KNOWN PROBLEMS AND WORKAROUNDS See the "IBM Director 5.10 Upward Integration Modules Installation Guide" for any additional limitations. o (Managed systems running Windows only) IBM Tivoli NetView might not display system health correctly for managed systems running IBM Director Agent 3.1. To correct this problem, obtain and install the ic33063 efix from the following Web site: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=psg1MIGR-55279 o (Server running IBM NetView on Linux only) The following error message is displayed: "Error detected while loading MIB file: /usr/OV/ibm/mibs/ums.mib. This MIB cannot be loaded until the following problem is corrected: Line 44930: Error defining ASN.1 Tpe: duplicate type with conflicting definition 'Boolean'." Complete the following steps to correct this problem: 1. Open the ums.mib file in an ASCII text editor and locate the following section: Boolean ::= INTEGER (0..1) 2. Add - - to the beginning of the line , so that the line reads as follows (all on one line): - - Boolean ::= INTEGER (0..1) 3. Save the modified file. o (Managed systems running Linux only) You must install and configure net-snmp5.0.9 for IBM Tivoli NetView for discovery, inventory, and event notification of the managed system. For more information, see IBM Director 4.20 Installation and Configuration Guide.
