Complete the following steps: 1. Edit the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file. 2. Locate the line that includes the keyword PasswordAuthentication. 3. If the line is commented out, uncomment the line and set the value to "yes". For example: PasswordAuthentication yes o (SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 8 only) You cannot cut and paste information into the ASF Configuration window. o The xSeries 336 does not support ASM interconnect. If you use the Management Processor Assistant task to configure the ASM interconnect settings, the settings will not take effect. o (Windows XP Professional Edition with Service Pack 2 only) You must enable the following ports for IBM Director to function properly: --------------+------------------------------+------------------ Category | Connection | Destination port --------------+------------------------------+------------------ IBM Director | IBM Director Server | 14247 UDP interprocess | <-> IBM Director Agent | 14247 TCP communication |------------------------------+------------------ | Web-based Access | 411 TCP | | 423 TCP --------------+------------------------------+------------------ SNMP | IBM Director Server | 161 TCP | <-> SNMP agent | 161 UDP |------------------------------+------------------ | SNMP agent <-> IBM Director | 162 TCP | Server | 162 UDP --------------+------------------------------+------------------ For more information about IBM Director ports, see the "IBM Director 4.20 Installation and Configuration Guide." o (Linux only) When running the Process Management task or any action that uses Linux operating-system commands, you might receive the following error message: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory This error is caused by Java setting the environment variable LD_ASSUME_KERNEL for its context which is incompatible with commands launched from the Java environment. To correct this problem, set the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL variable to an empty value as part of the action. For example, when running the ps command as a Process Management action, instead of issuing the command: ps -ef Use: LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=;ps -ef Note: This problem affects at least the following commands: o ps o top o pgrep o pstree o (Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS, version 3.0, for IBM PowerPC (Update 3) installations only) IBM Director Agent might fail unexpectedly while gathering process information for the Process Management task. When this occurs, the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) generates the following file in the IBM Director log directory: javacorePID.txt where PID is the process identifier of the failing instance of IBM Director Agent. If this failure occurs, open this file in a text editor and locate line 11. If the following text is at this location, your installation has this problem. Note: The hexadecimal value can vary. 1HPSIGRECV SIGILL received in ?? at 0x1829fd8 in ??. Processing terminated. For IBM Director Agent to avoid this failure, you must disable the Process Management task for this managed system. Complete the following steps to disable the Process Management task: 1. Change to the classes/extensions directory by typing: cd /opt/ibm/director/classes/extensions where /opt/ibm/director is the default directory for IBM Director Agent. 2. Copy the following files in this directory to a safe place: MONPROC.TWGMonlet TWGProcMgr.TWGSubagent 3. Restart IBM Director Agent by typing the following command: /opt/ibm/director/bin/twgstart If the javacorePID.txt file indicates another condition and not an illegal instruction signal, contact IBM Support. 6.0 SUPPORT WEB SITES ---------------------- The following Web pages provide resources for understanding, using, and troubleshooting IBM Director and systems-management tools: o IBM Director 4.20 http://www.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/ document.do?lndocid=MIGR-55606 You can download the following IBM Director 4.20 code and information from this Web page: o CD image o Documentation o IBM LM78 and SMBus device drivers for Linux o Readme files o Extensible Markup Language (XML) files for use with the Software Distribution task Check this Web page regularly for updated readme files and documentation. o IBM Director Agent page http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/xseries/systems_management/ sys_migration/ibmdiragent.html You can download the IBM Director Hardware and Software Compatibility document from this Web page.
