The utility can be run directly from the diskette or the files on the diskette can be copied to a hard drive and run from the hard drive. 4.0 Using the Configuration Utility ____________________________________ Supported commands: For both the Remote Supervisor Adapter and the Advanced System Management Adapter setip -interface [1|2] - See note 1 below -hostname [string] -ipaddress [X.X.X.X] -gateway [X.X.X.X] -subnet [X.X.X.X] getip -interface [1|2] - See note 1 below restartmp For the Advanced System Management Adapter only setnethw -interface [1|2] - See note 1 below -enabled [true|false] -type [eth|tr] - See note 2 below getnethw -interface [1|2] - See note 1 below -enabled -type For the Remote Supervisor Adapter only getdhcp setdhcp -enabled [true|false] Note 1: When the -interface option is included, options included prior to the command are executed with the previous interface (1 if no interface is specified). Commands included after the -interface option are executed with the new interface specified. For example: getnethw -interface 1 -enabled -interface 2 -enabled The first "-enabled" option will be executed with interface 1, while the second "-enabled" option will be executed with interface 2. Note 2: The "-type" option is used with the earlier advanced system management adapter. >> It is not used with the Remote Supervisor Adapter. << The advanced system management adapter firmware (not the Remote Supervisor Adapter firmware) allows either interface (1 or 2) to be configured as ethernet or token ring. The correct and safe steps to configure the advanced system management adapter for ethernet are: # disable both interfaces in case one is active/configured setnethw -interface 1 -enabled false -interface 2 -enabled false # set interface 1 as the ethernet configuration setnethw -interface 1 -type eth # set the hostname, ip, gw, and netmask setip -interface 1 -hostname IBMSP -ipaddress 192.168.70.10 -gateway 192.168.70.1 -subnet 255.255.255.0 # enable the interface - firmware does interface checked on parameters above setnethw -interface 1 -enabled true # restart the MP to start the ethernet restartmp 5.0 WEB Sites and Support Phone Number _________________________________________ 5.1 IBM Support Web Site: http://www.pc.ibm.com/support 5.2 IBM eserver xSeries Web Site: http://www.ibm.com/eserver/xseries 5.3 If you have any questions about this update, or problems applying the update, go to the following Help Center World Telephone Numbers and URL: http://www.pc.ibm.com/qtechinfo/YAST-3P2QYL.html. 6.0.
