Using the ServeRAID Manager agent
After configuring the remote systems to receive the SNMP traps using the SNMP
Trap Manager, you can run the ServeRAID Manager agent on this (local)
system, instead of the ServeRAID Manager. The ServeRAID Manager agent uses less
memory resources than the ServeRAID Manager. None of the managing actions or
the configuration actions is available in the agent.
The ServeRAID Manager agent does the following:
- Monitors for critical or fatal changes in the ServeRAID configuration every
5 seconds Such changes include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Defunct drives
- PFA drives
- Failed battery
- Offline or critical logical drives
- Failed controllers
- Enclosure problems
- Identifies non-warranted drives with events at startup, console connection,
and every 30 days
- Broadcasts problems and changes to remote systems (that is, systems defined
in the Notification Manager agent)
- Broadcasts SNMP traps to remote systems (that is, systems defined in the
SNMP Trap agent)
- Validates access from remote users (that is, users defined in the Security
Manager agent)
