BIOS Upgrade Instructions ------------------------- Upgrading to the Latest BIOS ----------------------------------- 1. Be sure you have downloaded the correct BIOS file. 2. Place the bootable floppy containing the BIOS into drive a: of the system that you want to upgrade and boot the system while the floppy diskette is in the drive. 3. The system will boot to a list of options; 1, 2, and 3. Choose 1 to update the system BIOS only. Choose 2 for an interactive version of the BIOS update utility. Choose option 3 to update the system along with the SCSI tables. Option 3 is the recommended option for most customers. 4. Choose "yes" to clear the error log when given this option. 5. Once the BIOS has been successfully loaded, remove the floppy diskette from the drive. The system will automatically reboot when the update has completed. 6. Check to make sure the BIOS version is the new version as the system reboots. 7. After the BIOS update has completed, the CMOS on the system must be cleared. Complete the following steps to clear CMOS: a) Locate configuration switches on the system board (switch S6A1). b) Slide switch S6A1-1 to ON. c) Turn the system power on, then wait for POST to complete. "NVRAM cleared by jumper" is displayed on the screen to show that POST is complete and the CMOS has been cleared. d) Slide switch S6A1-1 back to the OFF position. e) Turn the system power back on. 8. After the CMOS has been cleared, you must run the System Configuration Utility and save your configuration.
