The RDCLI is a group of command-line utilities that are used to remotely mount removable media to a service processor for export to that service processor's machine. This machine can be an blade server or a server with an Remote Service Adapter II (RSA II) installed. 1.2 Enhancements - Initial Release 1.3 Dependencies It is recommended that the RSA II / MM firmware be upgraded to the most recent version, otherwise the RDCLI may not function properly. OpenSSL 0.9.7 must be installed before installing the RDCLI application. SSL is a commonly used security technology that uses encryption to provide secure TCP/IP communication. This application requires that OpenSSL 0.9.7 or higher to be installed prior to execution. 2.0 CHANGE HISTORY ------------------ Version 1.23 - Initial Release 3.0 Installation and Setup Instructions ----------------------------------------- 3.1 Prerequisites Make sure that OpenSSL 0.9.7 is installed on your machine before installing the RDCLI application. 3.2 Installation Procedure for Linux 1. Download the correct rpm package to a local directory on your hard drive. 2. Log in as a user with sufficient privileges to install rpms. On most systems this will be root, depending on how your system is configured. # rpm -i IKP422A-rdcli-1-23.{distribution}.{platform}.rpm 3. Set your PATH variable to include /opt/IBM/rdcli. See the documentation for your specific operating system distribution for information and instructions. 3.3 Installation Procedure for Windows 1. Download the Windows installation archive to your hard drive. 2. Expand RDCLIv1.23.zip using a decompression utility into C:\Program Files\IBM\RDCLI\ or a location of your choosing. 3. Add the above path to your execution path (user guide contains examples). 4. Refer to the user guide, included in the package, for an example to set the path and instructions on how to use the product. 4.0 Running the Application --------------------------- 4.1 Current Known Limitations 1. After mounting a disk with RDCLI, another user logged into the web interface on the RSA II / MM may cause the RDCLI mount to be dropped unexpectedly. 2. Each RSA II / MM supports only one remote mount or load from RDCLI at any point in time. However, it is possible to mount or load more than one RSA II / MM from the same client running multiple instances of RDCLI. 3. Red Hat 3 and Red Hat 2.1 are not supported by RDCLI as a client or target system. 4. RDCLI only works with an RSA II / MM configured to use standard HTTP and HTTPS ports. 5. RDCLI does not support mounting remote drives to Netware. 4.2 Running the application under Linux Please refer to the man pages for specific execution information: # man rdload # man rdrm # man rdmount # man rdumount 4.3 Running the application under Windows Please refer to the Windows user guide for execution information. 5.0 WEB SITES AND PHONE SUPPORT ------------------------------- Information and assistance is available through the IBM Web site and by phone. 5.1 Web sites IBM Support Web Site: http://www.ibm.com/pc/support/ IBM eServer Web site: http://www.ibm.com/eserver/xseries/ IBM IntelliStation Web site: http://www.ibm.com/pc/intellistation/ 5.2 Software service and support -------------------------------- Through IBM Support Line, you can get telephone assistance, for a fee, with usage, configuration, and software problems with xSeries servers, IntelliStation workstations, and appliances.
