ejectmedia.exe 07/07/04 Overview -------- The enclosed executable file is a service tool designed to work in a Microsoft Windows operating system environment at the system level(on any IBM xSeries server) to force eject a cartridge from tape drives, autoloaders, and libraries by issuing SCSI commands directly to the hardware abstraction layer. As most software application layers provide a security service which takes control of the tape backup unit and denies external mandatory eject commands the function and this utility will bypass those provisions. In the event that the server cannot be restarted after running this utility it is highly recommended that the backup application services be stopped and restarted. Change History -------------- Version 1.0 Initial Release. Installation and Setup ---------------------- The ejectmedia.exe is a self-exacting auto-running application which will install files to the systems pathed temp directory. It will then run a batch file which automatically will preform the unlock and eject functions. The temporary files will be removed and the application will exit.
