The EFI package enables users to load EFI boot code on their IBM FAStT Host Adapters - QLA234x,and QLA2310. The package consists of EFI drivers, Auxilliary Drivers and EFI Flash Utility. EFI Boot code is for use on Intel based 64 bit architecture servers using EFI rather than BIOS. The contents of the release: Driver Files - generic driver version 1.07 - 08-01-03: - compiled with EFI SDK 1.10.14.61 and INTEL EBC compiler release 1.1.36. NOTE: The following two files are intended to be flashed to the adapter. Select the file which matches your adapter type and use the efiutil.efi utility to flash it to the adapter. ql2312ef.bin - FLASH Rom image of the driver for qla234x adapter. ql23efi.bin - FLASH Rom image of the driver for qla2300, qla2310 adapter. Utilities: efiutil.efi - EFI utility v0.8. Used to flash the adapter with EFI image file. Native IA64. qlcaux.efi - support program used by efiutil.efi. Automatically loaded if needed. Doc files: eficonfig.txt - A text document that describes how to start and use the EFI configuration protocol to display and modify adapter NVRAM parameters. efiutil.txt - A text document that describes how to use efi utility program. 1.2 Requirements: --------------------- This version of the driver is an EFI Byte Code image. You must have an EFI Shell with a revision level of at least 1.10.14.57. Anything earlier than .57 will not work, and may crash your machine. 2.0 Change History ----------------------------- Changes between 1.04 and 1.07 packages: 06-26-03 1.05 Added selective Lun login code. Increased command hang timeout. 07-10-03 1.06 Added ISP2322 support. Added memory or I/O mapping of Chip registers. 07-29-03 1.07 Added Dma Buffer Mapping for all chip accesses pkt and DataBuffer are local to HBA These changes were enhancements to the product rather than bug fixes. Specifics: 1.05 allows the user to specify a WWPN, WWNN and LUN to be logged into rather than just a WWPN, WWNN, and a range of LUNs. The size of the WWN database was reduced from 9 entries to 5 by an internal Qlogic request. 1.06 Adds support for the ISP2322, but only as a compile option -- the driver source code supports ISP2300, ISP2312, and ISP2322. The driver can be configured to access the chip registers using I/O or Memory instructions by setting a bit in the NVRAM using the driver configuration protocol or nvram configuration file. 1.07 Removed some global data structures from the driver to make it more thread safe. It also cleaned up some logical to physical address mapping issues that were described in the latest EFI Driver Writers guide. 3.0 Installation and Setup Instructions ----------------------------------------- Please refer to the efiutil.txt document that is included in this EFI driver file for information on flashing the driver image into the adapter flash memory. Please follow the instructions in the eficonfig.txt to modify the NVSRAM settings. You may also use the IA-32 FAStT-MSJ diagnostic program to view and modify the adapter NVSRAM settings. Note: incorrect NVSRAM settings might affect the performance and/or the functionality of the Host Bus Adapters. 4.0 Configuration Information ---------------------------------------- N/A 5.0 Unattended Mode ---------------------------------------- N/A 6.0 WEB Sites and Support Phone Number ---------------------------------------- 6.1 IBM TotalStorage™ Disk Storage Systems Technical Support web site: http://www.ibm.com/storage/support/fastt 6.2 IBM TotalStorage™ Marketing Web Site: http://www.storage.ibm.com/hardsoft/disk/fastt/index.html 6.3 If you have any questions about this update, or problems applying the update go to the following Help Center World Telephone Numbers URL: 800-IBM-SERV (800-426-7378) 7.0 Trademarks and Notices ---------------------------- The following terms are trademarks of the IBM Corporation in the United States or other countries or both: IBM FAStT TotalStorage™ the e-business logo xSeries HelpCenter Linux is a registered trademark of Linus Torvalds.
