Refer the README.TXT file after the appropriate package is downloaded and expanded. 2.0 Change History 2.1 Changes in 5.21.23a from the previous version (5.21.23) pc99logo_W2K-16_4.exe version 5.21.23a contains the following fixes and enhancements over the previously released version, version 5.21.23 FIXES: Updated Install DLL to correct problem with DLL included with 5.21.23 package that resulted in failure to properly indentify non-English verison of windows 95 OSR2 and windows 98 (First and Second Editions). This failure would then result in a failed install, with a message advising the installer to install an earlier verison (5.11b or 5.12), because the DLL would improperly conclude that the target operating system was windows 95 Retail. 2.2 Changes in 5.21.23 from the previous version 5.12 NOTE: Starting with verison 5.21.23, this device driver package does not support the retail release of windows 95 (with or without service pack 1), windows 95 OSR1, or windows NT 3.51. Please use version 5.12 package for these older operating systems. Furthermore, the NDIS 2 DOS driver (16-bit real mode driver) in no longer included for use with windows 95 OSR2.1 and windows 98. Please use an earlier version of the driver package to install the NDIS 2 driver under windows 9x. IBMTRP.SYS version 5.21.23 contains the following fixes and enhancements over the previously released version, version 5.12 Enhancements: -Microsoft PC 99 LOGO -Quick Failover (QFO) support for Redundant NIC (RNIC) -Failover time reduced from approximately 30 seconds to about 5-8 seconds. -Primary and secondry adapter of the redundant pair can be in any PCI slot in the system (removes prior restriction of both adapters having to be installed on the same PCI bus). -Improved class of Service and Route Switching parameter setup -Enhanced error logging in windows NT 4.0 Fixes: -Use of NDISAllocateMemoryWithTag function for early memory leak detection. -Fix for cable pulls on ACPI adapters that result in the adapter closing and not re-opening, even after cable is reconnected. -Fix for cable pulls that incorrectly put adapter in a power managed state, resutlting in loss of network connectivity. -Fix for driver start failures on certain machines, including IBM Intellistation and Netfinity servers -Fix for suspend /resume on hibernate/wakeup with multiple adapters that results in blue-screen 2.3 Changes in 5.12 from previous version (5.11b) IBMTRP.SYS Version 5.12 contains the following fixes and enhancements over the previously released version, version 5.11b. Enhancements: -Microsoft PC98 Logo Fixes: -Plugged memory leak discovered when driver is dynamically unloaded/reloaded 10 or more times in a row without a reboot Other Changes: Route Swithching and Class of Service for IP features removed. These features were pulled from the logoed package because the Control Panel Applet included in the version 5.11b relase of this driver that enables these features was found by Microsoft to be in violation of the current PC98 specifications. IBM is working on correcting this problem in a future release Version 5.11b of this driver is still available for download for customers desiring to use the Route Switching and/or Class of Service for IP features. Installs the NDIS 5.0 driver instead of NDIS 4.0 driver on Windows 98, as recommended by Microsoft. 2.4 Changes in 5.11b from the previous version (3.34b) IBMTRP.SYS version 5.11b contains the following fixes and enhancements over the previously released version, version 3.34b: Fixes: -Improved ability of supported adapters to recover from beaconing conditions on the ring. Enhancements: -Added support for Redundant NIC enviornments -Improved Route Switching support (added Peer and Auto modes) -Added support for Class of Service over IP -Added support for 100Mbps adapters -Improved installation support files -Addition of DMI enhancements to reflect/expose Route Switching and Class of Service over IP Other Changes: -Changed TxPriMax default value from 5 to 6 -Changed TxPriThresh default value from 3 to 1 Additonal Information: Note that IBM 16/4 Token-Ring Low Profile PCI Management Adapter is supported only with windows 98SE, windows NT4.0, and windows 2000. Its is not supported wiht windows 95, windows NT3.51, or windows 98(original release) 3.0 Installation and Setup Instructions This section describes how to install the driver software for you token-ring adapter 3.1 Step by step instructions for this code update 1. Download the self-extracting zip file pc99logo_W2K-16_4.exe to the driver and directory of your choice. 2. Execute pc99logo_W2K-16_4.exe from a command prompt to unzip the file A path can be specified after the self-extracting zip file name in order to expand the zip file to a location other than the current directory (example: pc99logo_W2K-16_4.exe x:\- where x is a drive letter) If path is not specified, the self-extracting zip file will be unzipped into the current woking directory. 3.
