This firmware level is 7.00-01. 1.2 Limitations: - This firmware should be used only with the Mylex Performance Optimized Device Drivers for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 version 7.05-01. This driver and firmware usage is intended only for environments characterized by high CPU utilization (greater 95% utilization) and high disk I/O rates such as those typical of transactional database applications. If your environment does not meet the CPU and disk I/O criteria, use of this firmware and these device drivers is not recommended. 1.3 Enhancements: None 1.4 Level of Recommendations and Prerequisites for the Update: - This update is not necessary if the system environment is not characterized by high CPU utilization (greater than 95% utilization) and high disk I/O rates such as those typical of transactional database applications. 1.5 Dependencies: - Update the firmware on the Mylex adapters to version 7.00-01 before installing the version 7.05-01 device drivers. 2.0 Change History --------------------------- None. 3.0 Installation and Setup Instructions ---------------------------------------------------- 3.1 This firmware package consists of three diskettes with the following files: Diskette 1 - kba70000.000, fbastep.000, ez30000.img Diskette 2 - fba70001.000, bba60100.026 Diskette 3 - fba70001.189 3.2 Unplug the server's AC power cords and install all Mylex eXtremeRAID 2000 Adapters. 3.3 Do not connect any SCSI cables to the Mylex adapters. 3.4 Plug in the AC power cords and power up the server. 3.5 When the Mylex banner is displayed during POST, invoke the EZAssist by pressing Alt-R. 3.6 Insert Diskette 1 and flash the following three files to all Mylex eXtremeRAID 2000 adapters: kba70000.000, fbastep.000, ez30000.img. 3.7 Power cycle the server. Note that a simple reboot is not what is meant here.
