Operating SCSI Tape Drive Diagnostics ----------------------------------------- The SCSI Tape Drive Diagnostics runs from a bootable DOS disk. To execute the SCSI tape drive diagnostics, 1. Place the SCSI Tape Drive Diagnostic diskette in the floppy drive. 2. Turn the server on or reboot the system. 3. The diagnostics will run automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions. If these diagnostics are running on an IBM supported server (see section 3 for more details), the SCSI Tape Drive Diagnostic runs through six tests. At the end of each test, a pass or failure message will be displayed (see section 2 for explaination of errors). If a failure message is displayed, the remaining tests are aborted; otherwise, the tests will continue until completed. 2. Errors ---------- When a failure message is obtained, follow the guidelines below: 1. If the user executed the Read/Write Tape Drive test, check the tape cartridge. 2. Check the SCSI or power cable connected to the tape drive. 3. Refer to the Help and Service Information appendix of the tape drive's User Guide. 4. Run the SCSI controller test in the system diagnostics to determine in the SCSI controller is functioning properly. 3.
