Firmware Upgrade Instructions Version x.17 Downloading the MODEM Upgrade 1.) Locate the IBM Part Number on the underside of the modem. 2.) Find this part number in the IBM P/N column below, and note the corresponding country name in the Country Build column. 3.) To download, click the file that matches your corresponding Country Build name. Example: If your modem had the part number of 76H2775, then the file you will download is "Austria.exe". Note: It does not matter where you place the file on your hard drive. However, you must note the location. You will need to know the path in order to install the flash utility. The file you have selected above to download is an executable Locate your country.exe file on your local drive and double click on it to run the installation of the flash utility. 2.) Follow the Flash Wizard directions as prompted. You may be asked to restart your computer depending upon your operating system and/or your configurations. Upgrading (Flashing) the MODEM to the New Firmware 1.) If the modem is on at this time, turn it off. 2.) The modem must be in asynchronous mode before flashing in the new firmware. Verify that DIP switch 12 is in the down position (this is the asynchronous position). 3.) Ensure that the modem is connected to the computer with a serial cable. Also, ensure that the power cord is connected to the modem. 4.) Turn the modem on. 5.) On the computer, press the Start button, and then select Programs. Click the Flash Wizard icon found in the Flash Wizard program group. This will start the Flash Wizard program. 6.) The Flash Wizard will then ID the modem and display one HEX file to program into the modem. Proceed as directed by the Flash Wizard. 7.) It should only take a few minutes for the modem update process to be completed, after which you will receive a confirmation message.
