IBM TR4 Firmware Upgrade Notes UPGRD.EXE is a utility to upgrade the firmware in IBM TR4 tape drives. Note UPGRADE is a DOS program and must be run from a true DOS prompt and not from a DOS window. For ATAPI tape drives the system can be started from a DOS boot diskette or Windows 95/98 can be restarted in the MS-DOS mode. For SCSI tape drives the system should be started from a DOS boot diskette with the appropriate DOS ASPI driver (for example: ASPI8DOS.SYS) for the installed SCSI adapter. Running UPGRD.EXE Running the program with no parameters will display help on the correct program syntax. Insert the IBM Firmware Upgrade diskette in the floppy drive. From the DOS prompt type: C:> A:UPGRD.EXE The following help text will appear: Seagate Technologies Firmware Upgrade Utility UPGRD.EXE Version 2.05 for 4000/8000/20000 series tape drives Notes Usage is: UPGRD <0|1|2|3> SCSI will normally be on Host adapter - S 0 (Zero) ATAPI will normally be on the secondary controller - I 1 (One) Where: - Name of the flash update file - Use I for IDE, S for SCSI <0|1|2|3> - Scsi Host adapter or IDE channel SCSI Example: UPGRD RWHD4535.FLS S 0 This example upgrades a SCSI TR4 tape drive on Host adapter 0 (zero) IDE Example: UPGRD RWHD4535.FLS I 1 This example upgrades an ATAPI TR4 tape drive on the secondary IDE controller.
