BTC 40X CD-ROM drive firmware update README This package performs a flash update of the firmware that controls the BTC 40X CD-ROM drive which might have come preinstalled in your IBM(R) Aptiva(R) or NetVista(R) computer. A blank 1.44MB 3.5-inch diskette will be needed. NOTE: Firmware is programming that controls low-level hardware operations internal to the CD-ROM drive. The firmware is stored on a chip. Your CD-ROM drive uses flash ROM's, which can be updated through a program on a flash diskette so that you do not have to replace the firmware chip to update the firmware. This update package is intended for IBM Aptiva and NetVista machine types 2193-xxx, 2194-xxx, 2196-xxx, or 2197-xxx that came with a CD-ROM drive manufactured by BTC.
