WHAT THIS PACKAGES DOES ----------------------- This package provides the Modem driver for Windows 98 users. The Modem driver enables or updates the Modem function of ThinkPad AMR Modem of the following ThinkPad computers: - ThinkPad R32 To determine if you should update the Modem drive, refer to the "SUMMARY OF CHANGES" section. To update the Modem driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions" section. RELEASED VERSIONS ----------------- Version 2.1.7 Initial release Version 2.1.20 A problem fix. Installation Instructions ------------------------- Maual install: 1. Start Windows. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4 In the Run dialog window, specify SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. 6. Restart the system for the driver to be effective. Maual uninstall: 1. Start Windows. 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs icon in the Control Panel. 4. Select Agere Systems AC'97 Modem. 5. Click Add/Remove. 6. Click Yes button in the confirmation window. 7. When asked to restart the system, click Yes. If you do not remove the modem Hardware, Windows will redetect the modem on the next boot. Unattended Install ------------------ This is for system administrators' use only. 1. Start Windows 98. 2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive. (Assume the location of extracted files is C:\Drivers\W98\Modem) 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. Type C:\Drivers\W98\Modem\Setup.EXE -S, then click OK. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- 1. Start Windows 98. 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-Click Modems. 4. Click Diagnostics. 5. Select COM port with the name Agere Systems AC'97 Modem. 6. Click More Info. 7. Check Command | Response window to check the result of ATI3.
