What This Package Does ---------------------- This package provides the Wireless LAN driver for "IBM High Rate Wireless LAN MiniPCI Combo card" for Windows 95(OSR 2.x), Windows 98SE, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Widnows XP. Driver installation to Windows 95/NT is not supported by ThinkPad Software Installer. Follow the manual installation instruction as described in this section. ------------------------------ INSTALL ------------------------------ Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP 1. Start Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP. If using Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto the hard drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. In the run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANACT\SETUP.EXE to install the driver. Click OK button to start the installation process. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead. 5. Follow the instructions. 6. Click Yes when prompted to restart the system. Windows NT 4.0 1. Start Windows NT and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto the hard drive. 3. Click Start select Settings then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the Network icon. 5. The Network Configuration dialog box is displayed if this is the first time configuring the Network. If not, go to step 21. (First Network Configuration) 6. Click the Yes button. 7. Select Wired to the network. 8. Click the Next> button. 9. Click the Select from list... button. 10. Click the Have Disk... button. 11. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANACT\NT4 in the Insert Disk dialog box. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify NT4 directory under this location instead. 12. Click the OK button. 13. Select IBM High Rate Wireless LAN MiniPCI Combo Card. 14. Click the OK button. 15. Click the Next> button. 16. Follow the instructions on the screen. 17. Follow the prompts for any Windows NT installation disks by typing the path to the directory that contains Windows NT files. (It is usually C:\i386 directory or Windows NT CD-ROM's X:\i386 directory.) 18. Follow the instructions on the screen. 19. Click the Finish button when the installation completes. 20. Click Yes when prompted to restart the system. (Adding Wireless LAN to Network Configuration) 21. Click the Adapters tab. 22. Click the Add... button. 23. Click the Have Disk... button. 24. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANACT\NT4 in the Insert Disk dialog box. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify NT4 directory under this location instead. 25. Click OK to start the uninstallation process. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead. 4. Select Remove and follow the instructions 5. Click Yes when prompted to restart the system. Windows NT 4.0 1. Start Windows NT and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel. 3. Double-click the Network icon. 4. Click the Adapters tab. 5. Select IBM High Rate Wireless LAN MiniPCI Combo Card. 6. Click the Remove button. 7. Follow the instructions on the screen. 8. Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP ------------------------ 1. Create response file 1-1. Start Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP. If using Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges. 1-2. Extract this package onto the hard drive. 1-3. Click Start, then click Run. 1-4. In the run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANACT\SETUP.EXE -r to install the driver. Click OK button to start the installation process. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead. 1-5. Follow the instructions. 1-6. Click No when prompted to restart the system. 1-7. SETUP.ISS file will be created in your windows system directory. 2. Unattended install without automatic reboot 2-1. Start Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP. If using Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges. 2-2. Extract this package onto the hard drive. 2-3. Click Start, then click Run. 2-4. Copy SETUP.ISS file that you have created in step 1-7, to the directory where SETUP.EXE resides. 2-5. In the run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANACT\SETUP.EXE -s to install the driver.
