What This Package Does
-----------------------
This package provides the IBM Wireless LAN driver for Windows 2000
users.
This package enables or updates the IBM Wireless LAN function of the
following ThinkPad computers:

   - ThinkPad i Series 1300(1171-2**, 5** except 5CU and 5X*, 6** 
                            except 6MU and 6XU, 7** except 7XG, 8** 
                            except 8MU and 8XU, 9** except 9MU and 
                            9X*)
   - ThinkPad i Series 1300(1171-4**, 5CU, 5X*, 6MU, 6XU, 7XG, 8MU, 
                            8XU, 9MU, 9X*)

Installation Instructions   
-------------------------
 1. Start Windows.
 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
 3. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
 4. Double-click the System icon.
 5. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties
    window.
 6. Click the Device Manager button.
 7. Double-click Other devices in the list.
 8. Double-click IBM_Corporation.
    IBM_High_Rate_Wireless_LAN_PC_Card.
 9. Click the General tab.
10. Click the Reinstall Driver button.
11. Click the Next button.
12. Click Search for a better driver than the one your device is
    using now. (Recommended).
13. Click the Next button.
14. Click Specify a location.
15. Click the Next button.
16. Point to where the package is extracted, and click OK.
17. Click the Next button.
18. If the Digital Signature Not Found message appears, click Yes.
19. Click the Finish button.
20. Restart the system.


Determining which version is installed 
--------------------------------------
 1. Start Windows.
 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
 3. Open the System Icon.
 4. Click the Device Manager tab.
 5. Expand the Network section.
 6. Double-click IBM High Rate Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card.
 7. Click the Driver tab.
 8. Click the Driver File details button.
 9. Highlight the file C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVEERS\WLIBM48.sys.
    The file has the version number embedded.

    For example:
    The file version is displayed as 
        File version: 1.6.21.0
