What This Package Does
----------------------
This package provides the display driver for Windows 2000/XP users.
This package enables or updates the display function of the following
ThinkPad computer:

  - ThinkPad G40

To determine if you should update the display driver or not, refer to
the "Summary of Changes" section.

To update the display driver, please refer to the "Installation
Instructions" section.

 - (Fix) (Windows 2000) When install Video driver by INF installation,
         the system causes bluescreen.
 - (Fix) While resuming from Stand By or Hibernate with DirectX8.1 SDK 
         sample launched, the system causes bluescreen.

 - (Fix) The following problems at Extended Desktop mode are fixed.
         * ThinkPad Configuration Utility may fail to switch display 
           mode.
         * 3D screen saver may not be previewed.
         * Checkbox of monitor tab on 2nd display of display property
           may be grayed out.
         * When MPEG1 or MPEG2 file is played by Microsoft Windows
           Media Player, fullscreen playback mode quality may become
           lower under a certain condition.  
 - (Fix) The following problems at DOS full screen mode are fixed.
         * Color depth changes on Dual Display Zoom mode may fail.
         * Changing display mode continuously by Fn+F7 may cause
           display expansion to become disabled. 
 - (Fix) The following problems at Dual Display Zoom mode are fixed.
         * Playing a certain game causes system hang.  
         * When DVD is played back by WinDVD, subtitle may not be
           correctly displayed and 2nd display may go inactive.            - (Fix) The following problems at Dual Display Clone mode are fixed.
         * System shutdown gets Dual Display Clone mode at the next
           boot.   
         * Changing display mode during playing DVD may cause WinDVD
           hang.
 - (Fix) Changing display mode by Fn+F7 and Intel property(CUI) during             playing DVD may not be protected.
 - (Fix) LID close may cause display blink twice.
 - (Fix) Identify button may not work once at the next boot just after             installing graphic display driver.   

Installation Instructions
-------------------------

INSTALL:
 1. Start Windows 2000/XP and logon with administrative privileges.
 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
 3. Click Start and then click Run.
 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\DISPLAY\GRAPHICS\SETUP in the Open box and
    click OK.
    If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that
    location instead.
 5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
 6. Click Finish to reboot the system and complete the installation.

UNATTENDED INSTALL:
NOTE: This is for system administrators' use only.

 1. Start Windows 2000/XP and logon with administrative privileges.
 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
 3. Click Start and then click Run.
 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\DISPLAY\GRAPHICS\SETUP -S -SMS in the Open
    box and click OK.
    If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that
    location instead.
 5. Follow the instructions on the screen.

DETERMINING WHICH VERSION IS INSTALLED:
<Windows 2000>
 1. Start Windows 2000.
 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
 3. Double-click the Display icon.
 4. Select the Settings tab.
 5. Click the Advanced button.
 6. Select the "Intel(R) Graphics Technology" tab. The graphics driver
    version should be listed on this screen.

<Windows XP>
 1. Start Windows XP.
 2. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
 3. Click Appearance and Themes.
 4. Click the Display icon.
 5. Click the Settings tab.
 6. Click the Advanced button.
 7. Click the Adapter tab.
 8. Click the Properties button.
 9. Click the Driver tab. The version number will be displayed.
