IBM ThinkPad s31 December 5, 2001 Configuration Utility for Windows Me/2000/XP Version 4.15 ====================================================================== What This Package Does ---------------------- This package provides the following utility programs for Windows Me/2000/XP users: - ThinkPad Configuration program This package enables or updates the utility programs of the following ThinkPad computer: - ThinkPad s31 To determine if you should update the utility programs, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. To update the utility programs, refer to the "Installation Guide" section. Released Versions ----------------- Version 4.15 Initial release Summary of Changes ------------------ Where: Version (for example, 1.00 means Version 1.00) (New) New function or enhancement (Fix) Correction to existing function <4.15> - (New) Initial release. Installation Guide ------------------ (Note) - Before updating the utility programs, you must uninstall the previous version of the utility program first. Refer to the UNINSTALL: section. - To determine if you should update the utility programs, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. Install 1. Start Windows Me, or Windows 2000/XP and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WXP\UTILITY\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click OK. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. Uninstall: 1. Start Windows Me, or Windows 2000/XP and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Right-click ThinkPad Configuration in the Tray. 3. Click Disable Tray Icon. 4. Click Start, and click Control Panel. 5. Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon. 5. Select ThinkPad Configuration Utility from the list, then click the Change/Remove button. 6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the uninstallation. DETERMINING WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED: (Windows Me) 1. Start Windows Me. 2. Click Start, select Find or Search, then click Files or Folders. 3. Click the Name & Location tab. 4. Type in TP98.EXE in the Named: field. And select My Computer in the Look in: field. 5. Click Find Now. The computer will search for the file in your system. If the file is not found, the program is not installed on your system. 6. Double-click the found file. 7. Click Help in the menu and click About... . The version will be displayed. (Windows 2000) 1. Start Windows 2000. 2. Click Start, select Search, then click Files or Folders. 3. Click the Name & Location tab. 4. Type in TP98.EXE in the Search for files or folders Named: field. And select My Computer in the Look in: field. 5. Click Search Now. The computer will search for the file in your system. If the file is not found, the program is not installed on your system. 6. Double-click the found file. 7. Click Help in the menu bar and click About. The version will be displayed. (Windows XP) 1. Start Windows XP. 2. Click Start, select Search, then click All files and folders. 3. Type in TP98.EXE in the All or part of the file name: field. And select My Computer in the Look in: field. 5. Click Search. The computer will find out the file in your system. If the file is not found, the program is not installed on your system. 6. Double-click TP98.EXE the found file. 7. Click Help in the menu bar and click About... . The version will be displayed.
