What This Package Does ----------------------- This package provides the device driver of "IBM External USB Floppy Disk Drive" (TEAC) for Windows 95 users. The driver enables or updates the IBM External USB Floppy Disk Drive function. This release supports the following system: - ThinkPad X20 (Note) - Do not compress and decompress a floppy disk on this drive by DriveSpace 3. - This driver does not support more than two drives. Use only one drive in your ThinkPad computer. To determine if you should update the driver, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. To update the driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions" section. Installation Instructions ------------------------- CLEAN INSTALL: 1. Start Windows 95. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Connect IBM External USB Floppy Disk Drive to the system. 4. If Update Device Driver Wizard for Generic USB Hub appears, install Generic USB Hub driver by installation instruction provided by Windows 95. Then return to step 1. 5. If Update Device Driver Wizard for Unknown Device appears, go to step 7. 6. If the dialog requesting for the driver does not appear, follow the instruction UPDATE INSTALL section. 7. Click Next. 8. Click Other Locations. Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK. 9. Click Finish. 10. If File ... could not be found dialog appears, specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK. 11. Restart the computer to make the new settings effective. UPDATE INSTALL: 1. Start Windows 95. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Connect IBM External USB Floppy Disk Drive to the system. 4. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. 5. Double-click the System icon. 6. Click the Device Manager tab. 7. Select PnP TEAC USB FDD under Floppy disk controllers. 8. Click the Properties button. 9. Click the Driver tab. 10. Click the Update Driver button. 11. For Do you want Windows to search for the driver?, select Yes. Then click Next. 12. Click Other Locations. 13. Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK. 14. Click Finish. 15. If File could not be found dialog appears, specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK. 16. Click Close. 17. Restart the computer to make the new settings effective. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- To determine the installed driver version, please check the date stamp of each file which is installed in the System. Start Windows 95. 2. Click Start, select Find, then click Files or Folders. 3. Click the Name & Location tab. 4. Type the each file name listed above table in the Named: field. 5. Specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:) in the Look in: field, then check the Include subfolders. 6. Click the Find Now button. Windows will now search your hard drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, the driver is not installed on your system. 7. In the In Folder part of the window, select the file name located in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM. Then look at the Modified column to check the date/time of the each file.
