What This Package Does ---------------------- This package provides the device driver of IBM External USB Floppy Disk Drive (TEAC) for Windows 98 users. The driver enables or updates the IBM External USB Floppy Disk Drive function of the following ThinkPad computers: - ThinkPad TransNote To determine if you should update the driver, refer to the Summary of Changes section. To update the driver, refer to the Installation Guide section. CLEAN INSTALL: 1. Start Windows 98. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Connect IBM External USB Floppy Disk Drive to the system. 4-1. If the dialog requesting for the driver appears, specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2. 4-2. If the dialog requesting for the driver does not appear, follow the instruction UPDATE INSTALL section. UPDATE INSTALL: 1. Start Windows 98. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the System icon. 5. Click the Device Manager tab. 6. Select TEAC FD-05PUB. It may be found under Other devices or under Floppy disk controllers. 7. Click the Properties button. 8. Click the Driver tab. 9. Click the Update Driver... button. 10. Click Next. 11. Select Display a list... then click Next. 12. Select Floppy disk controllers then click Next. 13. Click Have Disk. 14. Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, then click OK. The driver list appears. 15. Select PnP TEAC USB FDD in the list. 16. Click Next. 17. Click Next. 18. Click Finish. 19. Restart your computer to make the new settings effective. HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED: 1. Start Windows 98. 2. Connect IBM External USB Floppy Disk Drive to the system. 3. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the System icon. 5. Click the Device Manager tab. 6. Double-click Floppy disk controllers. 7. Select PnP TEAC USB FDD and click the Properties button. 8. Click the Driver tab. 9. Click the Driver File Details button. 10. Click %WINDOWS%\SYSTEM\TEACVSDD.VXD (%WINDOWS% is the name of the folder where Windows installed). 11. File version column shows the driver version.
