IBM ThinkPad April 01, 1998 Utility Driver Diskette for Windows 95 Version 1.00 ====================================================================== What These Diskettes Do ----------------------- The Utility Driver Disk for Windows 95 provide the following utility programs for Windows 95: - ThinkPad UltraBay Hot Swap Driver Supported Models ---------------- - ThinkPad 770, 770E, 770ED Released Versions ----------------- Version 1.00 Initial release Summary of Changed or Fixed Items --------------------------------- Where: Diskette version (for example, 1.00 means Version 1.00) (New) New function or enhancement (Fix) Correction to existing function (Restrictions) Remaining restrictions <1.00> - (New) The ThinkPad UltraBay Hot Swap Driver was regrouped. It was included in the version 4.10 Utility Diskette for Windows 95 previously. - (New) Support for 770E and 770ED. - (New) Support the standard installation and un-installation. - (New) Supported DVD drive. - (Fix) The system will freeze by hot swapping if Control Panel is opened. - (Fix) When the system boots with a CD-ROM drive, hot swapping may not work correctly. - (Fix) When VPOWERD is not enabled, the VxD shows a blue error screen. The resolution and color settings are available. - (Restrictions) When CD-ROM or DVD drive is not installed in the UltraBay and TokenRing card is installed, the hot swapping will fail as a default. To avoid this problem, prior to the hot swapping the TokenRing Card should be set up as other IRQ than IRQ15 (IRQ9 is recommended.) in Resources tab of the TokenRing Properties in Device Manager. Installation Guide ------------------ 0. If a previous version is already installed, uninstall it first, by selecting Add/Remove Programs. If no item is displayed in Add/Remove Programs, follow the << case A >> steps below. (It will happen only when you installed Utility Diskette for Windows 95 V4.10 or earlier, because the uninstallation program was not supported at that time.) << Case A >> a. Select Control Panel, System, and Device Manager. b. Select IBM ThinkPad UltraBay and UltraBay Hot Swap Driver then open Properties. c. Check on Disable in hardware profile. d. Restart the operating system. e. Again go to Device Manager, and select Remove on UltraBay Hot Swap Driver in Device Manager. f. Restart the operating system. 1. Start Windows 95. 2. Select Add New Hardware from Control Panel. 3. Select Next, then No. 4. Select Other devices in the device selection menu. 5. Insert the Utility Driver Diskette for Windows 95 into the drive A, and click Have Disk... button. 6. Slelct ThinkPad UltraBay Hot Swap Driver. 7. Click Next, then Finish button. 8. When you proceed to << case A >> in the step 0, you will see the following warning dialog. A file being copied is older than the file currently on your computer. It is recommended that you keep you existing file. .... Do you want to keep this file? Select No to ignore it, and continue the installation. 10. Restart the operating system.
