Installation Guide ------------------ (Note) - To determine if you should update the TrackPoint driver, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. - Before installing this driver, you must uninstall the current program. UNINSTALL: 1. Start Windows 95/98/Me or NT 4.0. 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click on the Add/Remove Programs icon. 4. Click the Install/Uninstall tab at the top of the Add/Remove Programs Properties window. 5. Click IBM TrackPoint Support in the list. 6. Click the Add/Remove button. 7. Restart Windows. INSTALL FOR WINDOWS ME: 1. Start Windows Me. 2. Extract the driver onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the System icon. 5. Click the Device Manager tab at the top of the System Properties window. 6. Double-click Mouse. 7. Double-click either PS/2 Compatible Mouse Port or PS/2 TrackPoint whichever choice appears in the list. 8. Click the Driver tab. 9. Click the Update Driver button. The Update Device Driver Wizard runs. 10. Click Specify the location of the driver (Advanced). 11. Click Next. 12. Click Display a list of all drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want. 13. Click Next. 14. Click Have Disk. 15. Specify the directory where the driver files are extracted. Then click the OK button. Then driver list appears. 16. Click IBM PS/2 TrackPoint in the list. 17. Click Next. 18. Click Finish in the Update Device Driver Wizard window. 19. Close the IBM PS/2 TrackPoint Properties window. 20. Close the System Properties window. 21. Restart your computer to make the new settings effective. INSTALL FOR WINDOWS 98: 1. Start Windows 98. 2. Extract the driver onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the System icon. 5. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the Mouse icon. 5. Click the General tab. 6. Click Change. 7. Click Have Disk. 8. Specify the directory where the driver files are extracted. Default path is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\TPOINT\. Then click the OK button. The driver list appears. 9. Select IBM PS/2 TrackPoint in the list. 10. Click OK. 11. Click Close in the Mouse Properties window. 12. If running Windows NT, go to Devices in Control Panel. If the i8042 Keyboard and PS/2 Mouse Port has been disabled, change it back to System. Failure to do this will cause the TrackPoint and keyboard not to function after rebooting. 13. Restart your computer to make the new settings active. HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED: (Windows Me) 1. Start Windows Me. 2. Click Start point to Search, then click For Files or Folders. 3. In the Search for files or folders named: field, type in track.vxd. 4. In the Look in: field, specify Local Disk (C:). 5. Click the Search Now button. Windows will now search your hard disk drive for track.vxd. If the file is not found, then the TrackPoint driver is not installed on your system. 6. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column. The time stamp on the file will be the version number. TRACK.VXD 10-13-2000 02:07a - is version 2.07 (Windows 95/98) 1.
