The user who uses ThinkPad Software Installer, follows the instruction of ThinkPad Software Installer to install this package. If the user installs this package manually, please follows the instruction below. (Preparation) 0. Download this package from Web, and extract this package onto your hard drive. (Initial installation for the people, who is trying to attach "Ultrabay Plus Device Carrier" at the first time) 1. Start Windows 2000 with connecting Ultrabay Plus Device Carrier into the slot which has the capability of Ultrabay Plus Hot/Warm swap function, and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. After logging of Windows 2000, Operating system will start to detect the new device, and show "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog. 3. Click "Next" and select "Search for a suitable driver for my device(recommended)" option, then click "Next". 4. Select "Specify a location" option, and click "Next". 5. If OS shows the input dialog of the driver location, input the correct directory where you extracted this package in the step 0. 6. Follows the instruction on the screen. (For update installation - when a previous version is already installed) 1. Start Windows 2000 with connecting Ultrabay Plus Device Carrier into the slot which has the capability of Ultrabay Plus Hot/Warm swap function, and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Open Control Panel; then double-click on System icon. 3. Select Hardware tab; then click on Device Manager button. 4. Click on View; then select Device by type. 5. Double-click on "System devices". 6. Double-click on "IBM ThinkPad Ultrabay Plus Carriage". 7. Select Driver tab; then click on Update Driver button. 8. Click on Next. 9. Select 'Display a list of known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver' option. 10. Click on Next. 11. Click on Have Disk button. 12. Specify the directory name where you extracted this package in the step 0; then click on OK. 13. Select "IBM ThinkPad Ultrabay Plus Carriage" from Models list; then click on Next. 14. Click on Next, and follows the instruction on the screen. HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED: Check the date stamp of the VNESTWDM.SYS file under the SYSTEM32\DRIVERS directory.
