ThinkPad AMR Modem Driver for Windows 98SE

WHAT THIS PACKAGES DOES
-----------------------
This package provides the Modem driver for Windows 98SE users. The
Modem driver enables or updates the Modem function of ThinkPad AMR
Modem of the following ThinkPad computers:

    - ThinkPad G40

To determine if you should update the Modem drive, refer to the
"SUMMARY OF CHANGES" section.

To update the Modem driver, refer to the "INSTALLATION GUIDE" section.

INSTALLATION GUIDE
------------------
MANUAL INSTALL:
 1. Start Windows 98SE.
 2. Extract this package onto the hard drive.
 3. Click Start, then click Run.
 4  In the Run dialog window, specify SETUP.EXE with the full path 
    name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK.
 5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
 6. Restart the system for the driver to be effective.

MANUAL UNINSTALL:
1. Start Windows 98SE.
 2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control panel.
 3. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon in the Control Panel.
 4. Select Agere Systems AC'97 Modem.
 5. Click the Add/Remove button.
 6. Click the Yes button in the confirmation window.
 7. When asked to restart the system, click the Yes button.

 If you don't remove the modem H/W, the Windows detect the modem in
 the next boot.


UNATTENDED INSTALLATION
-----------------------
This is for system administrators' use only.
 1. Start Windows 98SE.
 2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive.
    (Assume the location of extracted files is C:\Drivers\W98\Modem)
 3. Click Start and then click Run.
 4. Type C:\Drivers\W98\Modem\Setup.EXE -S, then click OK


HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED
------------------------------------------
To check the driver version
 1. Start Windows 98SE.
 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
 3. Double-Click Modems icon.
 4. Click Diagnostics tab.
 5. Select COM port with the name Agere Systems AC'97 Modem.
 6. Click More Info button.
 7. Check Command | Response window to check the result of ATI3. The
    version of the driver installed is displayed.
