WHAT THIS PACKAGES DOES ----------------------- This package provides the Modem driver for Windows 2000/XP users. The Modem driver enables or updates the Modem function of ThinkPad AMR Modem of the following ThinkPad computers: - ThinkPad G40 To determine if you should update the Modem driver, refer to the "SUMMARY OF CHANGES" section. To update the modem driver, refer to the "INSTALLATION GUIDE" section. Installation instructions ------------------------- MANUAL INSTALL: 1. Start Windows 2000/XP. 2. Logon with administrative privileges. 3. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 4. Click Start, then click Run. 5. Specify SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK. 6. Follow the instructions. 7. Restart the system for the driver to be effective. MANUAL UNINSTALL: 1. Start Windows 2000/XP. 2. Logon with administrative privileges. 3. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control panel. 4. Double-click(Windows2000) or Single-click(WindowsXP) the Add/Remove Programs icon. 5. Select Agere Systems AC'97 Modem. 6. Click the Add/Remove button. 7. Click the Yes button in the confirmation window. 8. When asked to restart the system, click the Yes button. UNATTENDED INSTALLATION --------------------------- This is for system administrators' use only. 1. Start Windows 2000/XP. 2. Logon with administrative privileges. 3. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive. (Assume the location of extracted files is C:\Drivers\Win\Modem) 4. Click Start and then click Run. 5. Type C:\Drivers\Win\Modem\Setup.EXE -S and then click OK. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- To check the driver version, 1. Start Windows 2000/XP. 2. Double-click My Computer. 3. Double-click C:. 4. Double-click 'WINNT' or 'WINDOWS' folder. 5. Double-click 'System32' folder. 6. Find the file named 'AGRSM.SYS', right-click the icon, then click Properties. You can find the driver version in the Version tab.
