What This Package Does
-----------------------
This package provides the modem driver for Windows Me.
This package enables or updates the modem function of the following
ThinkPad computers:

   - ThinkPad R31 (except Ethernet Wireless integrated model *1)

*1 If your ThinkPad R31 is the Ethernet Wireless integrated model,
   Use "ThinkPad R31 Actiontec Combo Card Modem Driver for Windows Me"
   instead of this package.

Installation Instructions
-------------------------
NOTE: If the audio driver has not been installed on the system,
       install the audio driver prior to the modem driver.

 1. Start Windows Me.
 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
 3. Click Start and then click Run.
 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WME\MODEM\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click OK.
 5. Follow the instructions. If the message window that says Digital 
    Signature Not Found, click the Yes button.
 6. Follow the instructions. 
 7. Restart the system for the driver to take effect.
 
Determining which version is installed
--------------------------------------
 1. Start Windows Me.
 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
 3. Double-click the System icon.
 4. Select the Device Manager tab.
 5. Expand the Modem section.
 6. Select Lucent Technologies Soft Modem AMR and click Properties.
 7. Select the Driver tab.
 8. Click the Driver File Details button.
 9. Highlight the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\LTSMVCD.VXD.
    The file has the version number embedded.
