What This Packages Does ----------------------- This package provides the Modem driver for Windows 95/98 users. The Modem driver enables or updates the Modem function of ThinkPad AMR Modem (CDC) of the following ThinkPad computers: - ThinkPad A30, A30p To determine if you should update the Modem drive, refer to the Summary of Changes section. To update the modem driver, refer to the Installation Guide section. Installation Guide ------------------ - Note 1: To determine if you should update the Modem drive, refer to the Summary of Changes section. - Note 2: ThinkPad Software Installer provides install/(uninstall) wizard for this package. MANUAL INSTALL: 1. Start Windows 95 or Windows 98. 2. Extract this package onto the hard drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4 In the Run dialog window, specify C:\DRIVERS\WIN\SWMDMLUC\SETUP.EXE and click OK. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. UNATTENDED INSTALLATION ----------------------- This is for system administrators' use only. 1. Start Windows 95 or Windows 98. 2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\SWMDMLUC\SETUP.EXE -S, and click OK. MANUAL UNINSTALL: 1. Start Windows 95 or Windows 98. 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control panel. 3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. 4. Select Agere Systems AC'97 Modem. 5. Click Add/Remove. 6. Click Yes in the confirmation window. 7. When asked to restart the system, click Yes. If you do not remove the modem H/W, the Windows detect the modem in the next boot. HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED: ------------------------------------------- If there is an alphabet letters in the version number, check the date stamp of each file which version is installed. Start Windows 95 or Windows 98. 2. Click Start, point to Find, then click Files or Folders. 3. Click the Name & Location tab. 4. In the Named: field, type the each file name listed above table. 5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:). 6. Click the Find Now button. Windows will now search your hard drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, then the Modem driver is not installed on your system. 7. In the Found part of the window, select the file name located in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM. 8. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column to check the date/time of the each file. To check the driver version, 1. Start Windows 95/98 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click Modems. 4. Click Diagnostics. 5. Select COM port with the name Agere Systems AC'97 Modem. 6. Click More Info. 7. Check Command | Response window to check the result of ATI3. The version of the driver installed is displayed.
