What This Packages Does ----------------------- This package provides the Modem driver for Windows 2000 users. The Modem driver enables or updates the Modem function of the following ThinkPad computer: - ThinkPad s31 (with Internal Modem) To determine if you should update the Modem driver, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. To update the Modem driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions" section. Installation Instructions ------------------------- INSTALL: 1. Start Windows 2000 and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. If the Modem driver was already installed, refer to the UNINSTALL: section to uninstall the driver before installation. 4. Click Start, then click Run. 5. Type in C:\DRIVERS\W2K\MODEM\SETUP.exe in the Open box and click Next. 6. Follow the instructions. UNINSTALL: 1. Start Windows 2000 and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon. 4. Click Lucent Technologies Soft Modem AMR from the list, then click the Change/Remove button. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the uninstallation. DETERMINING WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED: 1. Start Windows 2000. 2. Click Start, select Programs, select Accessories, select Communications, then click Hyper Terminal. 3. Double-click the Hyper Terminal icon. 4. Type any name, and click OK. 5. Choose Lucent Technologies Soft Modem AMR, then click Cancel. 6. Type ati3, and press the Enter key. (Typed ati3 may not appear on the screen.) The version will be displayed.
