What This Packages Does ----------------------- This package provides the Modem driver for Windows XP. The Modem driver enables or updates the Modem function of ThinkPad AL Mini PCI Modem of the following ThinkPad computers: - ThinkPad A30, A30p - ThinkPad T23 - ThinkPad X22, X23 To determine if you should update the Modem driver, refer to the Summary of Changes section. To update the modem driver, refer to the Installation intsructions section. MANUAL INSTALL: 1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. Specify SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK. 5. Follow the instructions. If the message window that says "Digital Signature Not Found", click the Yes button. MANUAL UNINSTALL: 1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start, then click Control Panel. 3. Click Printers and Other Hardware, then click Phone and Modem Options icon. Or double-click Phone and Modem Options icon. 4. Click the Modems tab. 5. Select Lucent Win Modem and click the Remove button. 6. In the confirmation window, click OK button. *** If you don't remove the modem H/W, Windows will detect the modem again on the next boot. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- If there is an alphabet letters in the version number, check the date stamp of each file which version is installed. Start Windows XP 2. Click Start, then click Search. 3. Click All files and folders. 4. In the All or part of the file name: field, type each file name. 5. In the Look in: field, select C: drive. 6. Click More Advanced Options, then check Search subfolders. 7. Click Search button. Windows will now search your hard disk drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, then the Modem driver is not installed on your system. 8. In the Found part of the window, select the file name located in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32. 9. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column to check the date/time of the each file. To check the driver version. 1. Start Windows XP 2. Click Start, then click Control Panel. 3. Click Printers and Other Hardware, then click Phone and Modem Options icon. Or double-click Phone and Modem Options icon. 4. Click Modems tab. 5. Select Lucent Win Modem then click Properties button. 6. Select Diagnostics tab and click Query Modem button. 7. Check Command/Response window to check the result of ATI3.
