What This Package Does ---------------------- This package provides the Ethernet driver for Windows 2000. The Ethernet driver enables or updates the Ethernet function of the following ThinkPad computers with the following systems: - ThinkPad R32 The Modem drivers for the Mini PCI Combo Card are available in a separate package. To determine if you should update the Ethernet driver, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. To update the Ethernet driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions" section. Installation Instructions ------------------------- UPDATE INSTALL: To update the driver, 1. Start Windows 2000 and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the System icon. 5. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window. 6. Click the Device Manager button. The Ethernet adapter will appear as Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection in the Network adapters section or as Ethernet Controller in the Other devices section. 7. Expand the Network adapters or Other devices section. 8. Right-click Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection in the Network adapters section or right-click Ethernet Controller in the Other devices section and then select Properties. 9. Click the Driver tab. 10. Click the Update Driver button. 11. Click the Next button. 12. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended). 13. Click the Next button. 14. Select Specify a location only in Optional search locations:. 15. Click the Next button. 16. Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Copy manufacturer's files from:. 17. Click the OK button. 18. Click Next button. The driver installation starts. 19. Click Finish button when the installation completes. 20. Restart the computer. CLEAN INSTALL: (Found New Hardware Wizard) If this is the first boot of Windows 2000 after installing the Intel Mini PCI Card in the computer, the Windows 2000 detects the card automatically. To install the device driver, follow the instructions below. 1. Extract this package onto the hard drive. 2. Start Windows 2000. 3. It displays Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box. 4. Click the Next button. 5. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended). 6. Click the Next button. 7. Select Specify a location only in Optional search locations:. 8.
