Installation instructions ------------------------- (Note) To determine if you should update the Ethernet driver, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. 1. Start Windows XP and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, then click Control Panel. 4. Click the Performance and Maintenance icon. 5. Click the System icon.. 6. Click the Hardware tab. 7. Click the Device Manager button. 8. Click the + mark of Network Adapters to expand this section. 9. Right-click "Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100)" or "Intel PRO/100+ Mini PCI", and click Properties in the menu. 10. Click the Driver tab. 11. Click the Update Driver button. 12. Click "Install from a list or specific location(Advanced)", and then click Next. 13. Click "Include this location in the search". 14. Type in C:\DRIVERS\WXP\ETHERNET, and then click Next. 15. Click Finish. 16. Restart the computer. UNINSTALL: 1. Start Windows XP and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Click Start, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon. 4. Click to select "Intel(R) PRO Ethernet Adapter and software". 5. Click Change/Remove, and click OK. 6. Restart the computer. DETERMINING WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED: 1. Start Windows XP. 2. Click Start, then click Control Panel. 3. Click the Performance and Maintenance. 4. Click the System icon. 5. Click the Hardware tab. 6. Click the Device Manager button. 7. Expand the Network adapters section. 8. Click to select "Intel(R) PRO Ethernet Adapter and software" or "Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100)". 9. Right-click "Intel(R) PRO Ethernet Adapter and software" or "Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100)" and select Properties. 10. Click the Driver tab. The File version will be displayed.
