What This Packages Does ----------------------- This package provides the Ethernet driver for Windows Me/2000 users. The Ethernet driver enables or updates the Ethernet function of the following ThinkPad computer: - ThinkPad s31 To determine if you should update the Ethernet driver, refer to the Summary of Changes section. To update the Ethernet driver, refer to the Installation instructions section. Installation instructions ------------------------- NOTE: To determine if you should update the Ethernet driver, refer to the Summary of Changes section. (For Windows Me users) Install 1. Start Windows Me. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the System icon. 5. Click the Device Manager tab. 6. Double-click Network Adapters. 7. Click Intel PCI Ethernet Adapter or Intel PRO/100+ MiniPCI, then click Properties. 8. Click the Driver tab, then click Update Driver. 9. Click Specify the location...(Advanced), then click Next. 10. Click Specify a location and type in C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET, then click Next. You will see Intel PRO/100+ MiniPCI in the list. 11. Follow the instructions on the screen. 12. Click Finish. 13. Click Yes to restart the computer. If you are asked to specify the file location after restart, type in C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET . Uinstall 1. Start Windows Me. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the System icon. 5. Click the Device Manager tab. 6. Double-click Network Adapters. 7. Click Intel PRO/100+ MiniPCI, then click Remove. 8. Click OK. 9. Click Yes to restart system. (For Windows 2000 users) Install 1. Start Windows 2000 and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the System icon. 5. Click the Hardware tab, then the Device Manager button. 6. Double-click Network Adapters. 7. Select and right-click Intel PCI Ethernet Adapter or Intel PRO/100+ MiniPCI, then click Properties. 8. Click the Driver tab. 9. Click Update Driver. 10. Click Next, then click Next again. 11. Select Specify a location, then click Next. 12. Type in C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET in command line, then click OK. 13. Click Next. 14. Click Yes. 15. Click Finished. 16. Click Start, then click Shutdown to restart the system. Uninstall 1. Start Windows 2000 and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the System icon. 4. Click the Hardware tab, then the Device Manager button. 5. Double-click Network Adapters. 6. Select and click Intel PRO/100+ MiniPCI, then click Remove. 7. Click OK, and follow the instructions. Determining what version is installed (For Windows Me users) 1. Start Windows Me. 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the System icon. 4. Click the Device Manager tab. 5. Double-click Network Adapters. 6. Click Intel PRO/100+ MiniPCI, then click Properties. 7. Click the Driver tab. 8. Click Update Driver. 9. Click the Driver File Details button. 10. Click C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\E100BNT5.SYS. The version is displayed in the software version line. (For Windows 2000 users) 1. Start Windows 2000. 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the System icon. 4. Click the Hardware tab, then the Device Manager button. 5. Double-click Network Adapters. 6. Double-click Intel PRO/100+ MiniPCI. 7. Click the Driver tab.
