What This Package Does
----------------------
This package provides the Microsoft Bluetooth support file for IBM
Integrated Bluetooth III.
The package enables the Bluetooth functions for Windows XP(*1)
provided by Microsoft with the following ThinkPad computers integrated
with IBM Integrated Bluetooth III with 56K Modem.

This release supports the following systems Bluetooth models:

  - ThinkPad X40
  - ThinkPad R51 (Machine Type 1829, 1830, 1831 and 1836)(*2)
  - ThinkPad T42, T42p

 (Note)
  *1: Windows XP SP1 is required.
  *2: Machine Type 2883, 2887, 2888, 2889, 2894 and 2895 of ThinkPad
      R51 family are not supported.


To determine if you should update the Bluetooth software, refer to the
"Summary of Changes" section.

To update the Bluetooth software, refer to the "Installation
Instructions" section.

Installation Instructions
-------------------------
If IBM Integrated Bluetooth II Software is already installed on your
ThinkPad, uninstall the software in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel
before installation.

Uninstall instructions for IBM Integrated Bluetooth II Software
1. On Windows XP, Click Start, select Control Panel, and then click Add
   or Remove Programs.
2. Select IBM Integrated Bluetooth II Software and click the Remove
   button.
3. In the pop-up message 'Are you sure you want to remove IBM Integrated
   Bluetooth II Software from your computer?', click the Yes button.
   Uninstallation will start.
4. If following message appears, turn off Bluetooth power and click
   the OK button. "Please turn off or remove your Bluetooth device before
   continuing with the un-installation."
5. When a pop-up window appears that request the system restart, click
   the OK button to restart the system.


Installation instructions

1. Start Windows XP
2. Check if Windows XP SP1 is already installed.
3. Check if the Microsoft Bluetooth Software is already installed.
4. Turn the Bluetooth power on.
5. In the Found New Hardware Wizard window, select Install from a
   list of specific location (Advanced) and click Next.
6. Select Search for the best driver in these locations:, check
   Include this location in the search, and input the location you put
   the Microsoft Bluetooth support file into.
7. Then click Next. Then the driver will be loaded automatically.

* Note; In case you are asked for the location of the file bth_oobc.dll,
        point to the location C:\Windows\System32.
