IBM ThinkPad 380XD/385XD System Program Service Diskette Version 1.01 ============================================ What This Diskette Does ----------------------- The System Program Service Diskette given here can update the system program stored in the ThinkPad system to fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions. The supported models are as follows. - ThinkPad 380XD, 385XD To determine if you have to update the system program or not, please refer to the "Summary of Change" section. To update the system program, please refer to the "Updating System Program" section. Released Version ---------------- Version 1.00 (Initial Release) - Correction for Problems Version 1.01 - Correction for Problems Summary of Change ----------------- Key: Diskette Version (for example, 1.04 means Version 1.04) (New) New Function or Enhancement (Fix) Correction to existing function <1.00> - (Fix) (Windows 95 Only) ActiveMovie2 can not display the movie file (CinePak, MAV1) correctly when Windows 95 with Internet Explorer version 4.01 is installed. - (Fix) The system hangs when the system goes into suspend mode and then resumes normal operation, immediately after a hibernation file is created. - (Fix) The system can not go into suspend mode if the AC adapter is disconnected while the suspend mode indicator lamp is blinking. - (Fix) The system can not go into hibernation mode after the system goes into RegiSafe suspend mode and then resumes normal operation. <1.01> - (Fix) If you touch keyboard right after entering power on password, Key may not be entered. Updating System Program ----------------------- Notes: - You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the system program. - If your computer is attached to any kinds of Port Replicator, turn off the computer and detach it before proceeding. 1. Print these instructions or display on another computer. 2. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer. 3. Insert the System Program Service Diskette into the diskette drive and turn on the computer. 4. Select "Read this first..." from the menu and carefully read the information that appears. 5. Press the Esc key to return to the menu. 6. Select "Update system program" and follow the instruction on the screen. Warning: Do not turn off or suspend the computer until the update has been completed. IF YOU TURN OFF OR SUSPEND THE COMPUTER WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. After the update has been completed, run the diagnostics to make sure that the computer runs with no errors: 7. Make sure the System Program Service Diskette is removed from the diskette drive, then turn off the computer. 8. Press and hold the F1 key, then turn on the computer. Hold the F1 key until the Easy-Setup menu appears. 9. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password. 10. Select Test, then select Start to run all the basic tests. Various test patterns will appear on the screen. An OK will appear for each device that passes the test. 11. Verify that OK appears for all of the devices tested. 12. Press the Esc key to exit Test and turn off the computer.
