What This Package Does ----------------------- This ThinkPad BIOS Update Utility updates the system BIOS program stored in certain ThinkPad i Series systems to fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions as noted below. After you have opened the above link, click http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/downloads/corporate.asp 2. Scroll down to Windows 98 Second Edition Shutdown Supplement and click. 3. Click Next. 4. Accept the License to download the file. 5. Run the executable that you just downloaded. Updating System BIOS Procedures 1. Print these instructions or display them on another computer. 2. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer. 3. Start Windows 98/2000/Me on the target computer. 4. Make the temporary directory on the hard drive (for instance, C:\Temp) 5. Download the ThinkPad BIOS Update Utility from the web site and store the file into the temporary directory. (e.g. C:\Temp) 6. Click the Start button. 7. Click Run. 8. Specify filename with the full path name where you stored ThinkPad BIOS Update Utility. (e.g. C:\Temp\KQUF28US.EXE) Then press Enter. 9. Follow the instructions. Windows shuts down automatically and the System Program Service Diskette screen appears. 10. When prompted press the '1' key to update the system program. Warning: Do not turn off the computer until the update has been completed. IF YOU TURN OFF THE COMPUTER WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. Power on the system. 2. When the message Press F1 for IBM BIOS setup Utility appears at the bottom left hand corner, press the F1 key. 3. Wait for the BIOS Utility screen to appear. 4. Select System Information. 5. BIOS version is displayed at System BIOS Version line.
