What This Package Does ----------------------- This ThinkPad BIOS Update Utility updates the system BIOS program stored in certain ThinkPad i Series systems to fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions as noted below. Print these instructions or display them on another computer. 2. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer. 3. Start a supported version of Windows on the target computer. 4. Make the temporary directory on the hard drive (for instance, C:\Temp) 5. Download the ThinkPad BIOS Update Utility from the web site and store the file into the temporary directory. 6. Click Start, then click Run. 7. In the Open dialogue box, specify the utility filename with the full path name where you stored ThinkPad BIOS Update Utility. (E.g. C:\Temp\filename.exe) Then press the Enter key. 8. Follow the instructions on screen. When completed, windows shuts down automatically and the System Program Service Utility screen appears. 9. When prompted press the '1' key to update the system program. 10. Follow the instructions onscreen Warning: Do not turn off the computer until the update has been completed. IF YOU TURN OFF THE COMPUTER WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. To view the BIOS version in the BIOS Utility menu: 1. Power on the system. 2. When the message "Press F1 for IBM BIOS setup Utility" appears at the bottom left hand corner, press the F1 key. 3. Wait for the BIOS Utility screen to appear. 4. Select System Information. 5. BIOS version is displayed at System BIOS Version line.
