What This Diskette Does
-----------------------

This System Program Service Diskette updates the system BIOS program
stored in the ThinkPad system to fix problems, add new functions, or
expand functions as noted below.

The supported models are as follows.
   - ThinkPad i Series 1400 (Except Model 1412/1452/1472)

To determine if you should update the system program, please refer to the
"Summary of Change" section.

To update the system program, please refer to the "Updating System Program"
section.

 - (Fix)  After resuming from display standby mode, the system doesn't
          enter Hibernation mode in Windoes 98 APM mode
 - (Fix)  When the system resumes from standby mode by low battery signal,
          the Timer(clock) of Windoes 98(APM mode) is delayed
 - (Fix)  The wrong data is printed out after Windows 98 soft reset
 - (Fix)  Accept the media type CD-ROM XA format 2 ('90h') as a bootable
          media

 - (Fix)  Sometimes the system becomes unstable, if Samsung DIMM is used

 - (Fix) When waking the system up from standby mode by pressing
         'Caps Lock ' or the Scrolling button, the screen will sometimes
         print an un-expect numerical key in Notepad or any other
         editor which is opened at that time
 - (Fix) Detecting an external monitor may fail during bootup
 - (Fix) Exiting Notebook Manager after loading the BIOS default value may
         cause the system to become inoperative
 - (Fix) The system can not boot up from the LG CD-ROM drive

 - (Fix)  Enhancement on password security function


Updating System Program
-----------------------

Notes: - You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update
         the system program.

1.  Print these instructions or display them on another computer.
2.  Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer.
3.  Insert the System Program Service Diskette into the diskette drive
    and turn on the computer.
4.  When prompted press the '1' key to update the system program.

    Warning: Do not turn off the computer until the update
             has been completed. IF YOU TURN OFF THE
             COMPUTER WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM
             BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
