What This Diskette Does ----------------------- This System Program Service Diskette updates the system BIOS program stored in the ThinkPad system to fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions as noted below. We confirmed the following limitations were fixed by this BIOS(R01-D9) on Windows 2000 Beta3. - (Fix) The following functions can not be used in Windows 2000 * In the Power Options, monitor time out. * CardBus cards in the Port Replicator with Advanced EtherJet. * Warm Dock and Undock of the system with Port Replicator and Advanced EtherJet. - (Fix) If you schedule a task in Windows 2000 Beta 3 using the Schedule Task, the event may not wake the system to perform that task. - (Fix) The internal modem does not work after resume. - (Fix) The printer does not work after resume from Standby. - (Fix) The power meter does not report accurate batery life. 2). We confirmed the following limitations were fixed by this BIOS(R01-D9) on the latest Windows 2000 after Beta3. - (Fix) The following functions can not be used in Windows 2000 * SCSI devices attached to CardBus SCSI cards. Updating System Program ----------------------- To determine if you should update the system program, please refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. Notes: - You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the system program. 1. Print these instructions or display them on another computer. 2. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer. 3. Insert the System Program Service Diskette into the diskette drive and turn on the computer. 4. When prompted press the '1' key to update the system program. Warning: Do not turn off the computer until the update has been completed. IF YOU TURN OFF THE COMPUTER WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
