What This Diskette Does
-----------------------

This System Program Service Diskette updates the system BIOS program
stored in certain ThinkPad i Series systems to address operational 
issues, add new functions, or expand functions as noted below.  
The following models can utilize this code:

   - ThinkPad i Series 1200 (1161-43*, 73*, 93*, 94*, 96*)
   - ThinkPad i Series 1300 (1171-4**, 5CU, 5X*, 6MU, 6XU, 7XG, 8MU, 8XU, 
                                  9MU, 9X*)

To determine if you should update the system program, please refer to
the "Summary of Changes" section.

To update the system program, please refer to the "Updating System
Program" section.

 - (Fix) (Wireless Model)
         The system can not get the IP address from DHCP server 
         intermittenttly.
 - (Fix) BIOS may not be updated by using <1.24 - V1.00G> BIOS update 
         package.

Installation instructions
--------------------------
NOTES: 
- You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the system 
  program.
- If your computer is attached to any kind of USB port hub, turn off the 
  computer and detach it before proceeding.


1.  Print these instructions or display them on another computer.
2.  Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer.
3.  Insert the System Program Service Diskette into the diskette drive
    and turn on the computer.
4.  When prompted, press the '1' key to update the system program.

    Warning: Do not turn off the computer until the update has been
    completed. IF YOU TURN OFF THE COMPUTER WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL
    IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED.

Each version of the System Program Service Diskette contains the

*1 This BIOS version can be viewed by invoking the IBM BIOS setup Utility.

To view the BIOS Version by selecting System Information in the BIOS 
Utility menu:

 1. Power on the system.
 2. When the message "Press F1 for IBM BIOS setup Utility" appears
    at the bottom left hand corner, press the "F1" key. The BIOS Utility 
    screen will appear.
 3. Select System Information. The BIOS version is displayed at System 
    BIOS Version line.
