ThinkPad Scroll Lock Indicator Utility for

What This Package Does
-----------------------
This program indicates the state of Scroll Lock in the Windows system 
tray. This function is specially useful for the ThinkPad which does not 
have a Scroll Lock LED.

The following ThinkPad systems are supported:

  - ThinkPad G40(*4)
  - ThinkPad R40, R40e(*2)
  - ThinkPad R50(*3), R50e(*3), R50p(*3), R51(*3)
  - ThinkPad T40(*1), T40p(*3), T41(*1), T41p(*3), T42(*1), T42p(*3)
  - ThinkPad X31(*1)
  - ThinkPad X40(*5)
  (Note) *1: Windows Me is not supported.
         *2: Only Windows XP is supported.
         *3: Only Windows 2000 and Windows XP are supported.
         *4: Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 and Windows XP are supported.
         *5: Windows NT4, Windows 2000 and Windows XP are supported.

Installation Procedure
----------------------
ThinkPad Software Installer provides install wizard for this package.
It is recommended to install this package using the ThinkPad Software 
Installer.

If you are using Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows XP,
log on with a user ID authorized as an administrator.

How to install this program using the ThinkPad Software Installer
 1. Click Start, select Programs, click ThinkPad, then click ThinkPad
    Software Installer.
 2. Select Install or upgrade driver(s) or ThinkPad software.
 3. Follow the instruction on the screen.

How to install this program without using the ThinkPad Software Installer
 1. Open Windows Explorer by clicking Start, selecting Programs, and then
    clicking Explorer.
 2. Open the directory where this package was extracted.
 3. Select TpScrlk.inf by right mouse button.
 4. A menu appears.
 5. Select Install... from the menu.


Uninstallation procedure
------------------------
ThinkPad Software Installer provides uninstall wizard for this package. 
It is recommended to uninstall this package using the ThinkPad Software
Installer.

If you are using Windows NT 4.0, Windows(R) 2000, or Windows XP,
log on with a user ID authorized as an administrator.

How to uninstall this program using the ThinkPad Software Installer

 1. Click Start, select Programs, click ThinkPad, and then click ThinkPad
    Software Installer.
 2. Select Uninstall currently installed driver or ThinkPad software.
 3. Follow the instruction on the screen.

How to uninstall this program without using the ThinkPad Software 
Installer

 1. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
 2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
 3. Select Scroll Lock Indicator Utility and click the Add/Remove ...
    button.
 4. Follow the instruction on the screen.


Unattended installation
-----------------------
This is for system administrators use only.

 1. Start Windows, logon with administrative privileges.
 2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive.
 3. Click Start and then click Run.
 4. Type the following command line.

    Rundll32.exe setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection SilentInstall 128 
    C:\DRIVERS\WIN\KBDLED\TpScrlk.inf


Known Limitations
-----------------
 You must install this package using the ThinkPad Software Installer
 if you would like to display the version of the installed package later.


Determining which version is installed
--------------------------------------
 1. Click Start, select Programs, click ThinkPad, and then click ThinkPad 
    Software Installer.
 2. Select View driver or application version information.
 3. Follow the instructions on the screen.
