What This Package Does
-----------------------
This package provides the following utility programs for
Windows 98/98 SE/Me/2000/XP users:
 - Presentation Director

This package enables or updates the utility programs of the following
ThinkPad computers:

 - ThinkPad A20m, A20p, A21e, A21m, A21p, A22m, A22p, A22e
 - ThinkPad A30, A30p
 - ThinkPad A31, A31p(*1)
 - ThinkPad R32, R40 (*1)
 - ThinkPad T20, T21, T22, T23
 - ThinkPad T30 (*1)
 - ThinkPad T40 (*1), T41 (*1), T42 (*1)
 - ThinkPad X20, X21, X22, X23, X24
 - ThinkPad X30 (*1), X31 (*1)
 - ThinkPad TransNote
 - ThinkPad G40 (*2)

 (Note)
  *1: V1.x supports Windows 98/98 SE only.
      Use Presentation Director V2.x or later for Windows 2000/XP.
  *2: V1.x supports Windows 98 SE(ACPI) only.
      Use Presentation Director V2.x or later for Windows 2000/XP.

Installation Instructions
-------------------------
NOTES:
- For Windows 2000/XP, installation/uninstallation operation requires 
  to logon with a user ID of Administrator.
- To determine if you should update the utility programs, refer to the
  "Summary of Changes" section.
- ThinkPad Software Installer provides install/uninstall wizard for 
  this package.

INSTALL:
 1. Start Windows 98/98 SE/Me/2000/XP. For Windows 2000/XP, logon with 
    a User ID of Administrator.
 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
 3. Click Start and select Run.
 4. Type [Program Path]\SETUP, and click OK.
    Program Path is the full path name where you extracted the package
    in the step 2, and click OK.
 5. Follow the instructions on the screen.

NOTES:
*1  From Version 1.30, package structure was re-organized.
    If you already installed "Utility package" for each operating 
    system, please uninstall it first before you install this package.
    Then you need to install the following packages too.

    - IBM ThinkPad Configuration package
    - IBM ThinkPad Battery MaxiMiser and Power Management Features 
      package
    - IBM ThinkPad EasyEject Utility

*2  If you install newer version after uninstalling previous version
    on Windows 2000/XP, reboot the system after uninstallation.

Silent Installation Guide (for Unattended Installation support)
---------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE:
 This is for system administrators' use only.

 When you type [Program Path]\SETUP in the above installation guide,
 add -S -SMS parameter to SETUP.
 (You need to type [Program Path]\SETUP -S -SMS in Run.)

Determining which version is installed 
--------------------------------------
 1. Start Presentation Director Wizard and see the first page.
 2. You will see the version information on the screen.
