This program is necessary only for Windows 2000 clean installation. What This Package Does ----------------------- This package cleans up dummy COM port from the device manager. This package is applicable to: - ThinkPad TransNote Released Versions ----------------- Version 1.00 Initial release Summary of Changes ------------------ Where: Package version (for example, 1.00 means Version 1.00) (New) New function or enhancement (Fix) Correction to existing function (Restrictions) Remaining restrictions <1.00> -(New) Initial release for ThinkPad TransNote Installation instructions ------------------------- Windows 2000 1. Start Windows 2000 and Login with Administrator level access. 2. Extract the driver onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. In the Open field, type c:\drivers\w2k\dummycom\RMV0501.exe to install the dummy com patch. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead. NOTE: No message is displayed during installation. This program is required to run only once, and does not stay resident. Uninstall instructions: 1. Delete the file RMV0501.EXE from the hard disk drive. NOTE: No message is displayed during uninstallation. HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED: 1. Start Windows 2000 2. Click Start, point to Search, then click for Files or Folders. 3. Type the file name listed in the table below in the Named: field. 4. Specify Local Hard drives C: in the Look in: field. 5. Click the Search Now button. Windows will now search your hard disk drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, the driver is not installed on your system.
