INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE IN INTERACTIVE MODE ---------------------------------------------- Install this program to re-initialize the INTEL chipset after every supplemental update to the base operating system. Installation instructions for Windows 2000/XP/Vista: 1. Start Windows 2000/XP/Vista and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Close any running applications. 3. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\INTELINF. 4. For Windows Vista, Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click Run... For Windows XP/2000, Click Start, then click Run... Note: For unattended installation, Run INFINST_AUTOL.EXE with the command line flags as follows. INFINST_AUTOL.EXE -a -s 5. Specify INFINST_AUTOL.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package in step 3, and click OK. Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\INTELINF\INFINST_AUTOL.EXE 6. Follow the instructions on the screen. 3. INSTALLING THE INF FILES PRIOR TO OS INSTALLATION ---------------------------------------------------- How to extract Windows INF files prior to OS installation: 1. For Windows Vista, Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click Run... For Windows XP/2000, Click Start, then click Run... 2. In the Open field, type INFINST_AUTOL.EXE -a -a -p C:\INTEL. 3. Click OK. The Setup Screen (INTEL Chipset Software Installation Utility) appears. Note: This stage runs the InstallShield program and does not extract the INF and CAT files. 4. Click Next. 5. Click Yes to Accept License Agreement. 6. Click Next at the ReadMe Information screen. The progress bar shows the extract status. After reaching 100%, the INF and CAT files have been extracted in the C:\INTEL folder. 7. Check the C:\INTEL folder. Some folders should be in C:\INTEL. 8. The INF and CAT files can be used from the Win2000/XP/Vista folders for installation. 9. Use the C:\INTEL subdirectory. 3A. INSTALLING THE WINDOWS* 2000/XP/Vista INF FILES PRIOR TO OS INSTALLATION --------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Create the following directory structure under the WINDOWS Setup Directory: \$OEM$\$$\INF 2. Copy the Windows INF files from the the following folder to the directory created in Step 1 above. Windows 2000: C:\INTEL\Win2000 Windows XP: C:\INTEL\XP Windows Vista: C:\INTEL\Vista 3. Create the following directory structure under the WINDOWS Setup Directory: \$OEM$\$1\drivers\IntelINF 4. Copy the Windows INF files and the catalog files (.CAT) from the folder listed in step 2 to the directory created in Step 3 above. 5. Either modify the default Windows installation answer file, UNATTEND.TXT, located in WINDOWS Setup Directory, or create a customized answer file. The answer file must include the following information: [Unattended] OemPreinstall = Yes OemPnPDriversPath="drivers\IntelINF" 6.
