What This Package does ---------------------- This package provides the function to power off IBM ThinkPad automatically after shutdown of Windows NT 4.0. Power Switch service, which is the application of Shutdown Service, is also available in this package. Power Switch service allows the user to automatically start shutdown and then power off ThinkPad that have Windows NT 4.0 by lightly pressing the power switch on the target system. The following models are supported: - ThinkPads which support Windows NT 4.0 NOTE:Power Switch service works only ThinkPad which use Intel 82371AB (PIIX4)/82443MX or a successor of this chip used as a power control chip. Refer to the technical specifications or user's guide for details. Or Please try to install Power Switch service, Install program checks this chipset automatically. To determine if you have to update this package or not, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. ThinkPad A21e). Installation Instructions ------------------------- Install or uninstall the Shutdown Service/Power Switch Service on your system after your logon with Administrator's right. How to install/Uninstall Shutdown Service ----------------------------------------- 1. Extract this Package into your local hard disk drive. 2. Click Start, then click Run. 3. Specify the installation program INSTALL.EXE with full path you extracted in the step 1 and click on OK. 4. Follow the Installer's instructions as you select the appropriate installation / uninstall options and start installation/ uninstallation. You can also uninstall Shutdown Service by clicking Start, pointing to Settings, then clicking Control Panel. Double-click Add/Remove Applications. Highlight IBM Shutdown Service for Windows NT, and click Add/Remove. How to install/Uninstall Power Switch Service ----------------------------------------------- 1. If you install Windows in another drive/directory, specify your Windows installed drive and root diretory. To check the date/time of these files: 1. Start Windows NT. 2. Click Start, point to Find, then click Files or Folders. 3. Click the Name & Location tab. 4. In the Named: field, type the file name listed above table. 5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:). 6. Click the Find Now button. Windows will now search your hard drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, then the driver is not installed on your system. 7. In the Found part of the window, select the file name located in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 for EXE file or in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS for SYS file. 8. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column to check the date/time of the each file.
