The following models are supported: - ThinkPad 770X/770Z for Windows 98 - ThinkPad 770/770E/770ED/770X/770Z for Windows 2000 NOTE: This drivers should only be used if you are using Mediamatics DVDExpress application to play DVD movies. If you are using the SoftDVD application to play DVD movies, DO NOT install this drivers. To determine whether you have to update the program, refer to "Summary of Changed and Fixed Items." To update the program, refer to the "Installation Guide." Installation Guide on Windows 98 -------------------------------- Notes: - Use this driver only for the ThinkPad 770X,770Z. - Before installing, make sure that you have installed the following software in the computer: - Video Features IV for Windows 98 - Audio Features for Windows 98 - DVDExpress Player for Windows 98 1. Make sure that your system has the DVD and Enhanced Video Adapter installed in the system. 2. Start Windows 98. 3. Extract the drivers onto the hard disk. 4. Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel. 5. Open the System icon, and click on the Device Manager tab. 6. If you are installing this program for the first time, double-click on Other devices and then PCI Multimedia Device. Otherwise, double- click on Sound, video and game controllers, and IBM DVD decoder card. 7. Click on the Driver tab. 8. Click on Update Driver... 9. Click on Next. 10. Select the "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want" radio button, and click on Next. 11. If the device being installed is listed as a PCI multimedia device, select Sound, video and game controllers. Specify a location by pressing Have Disk... 12. Specify the directory where the driver files are extracted. Default path is C:\DRIVERS\W9X\MPEG Then click on the 'OK' button. A device list appears. 13. Select IBM DVD decoder card, and click on Next. 14. Click on Next again in the window that shows the full path to DVD.inf. The computer starts to install the MPEG driver. Follow the instructions on the screen. 15. After completing the installation, click on Finish, Close, and OK to close the Device Manager window. 16. Restart the system. Installation Guide on Windows 2000 ---------------------------------- Note: - Use this driver only for the ThinkPad 770,770E,770ED,770X,770Z. 1. Make sure that your system has the DVD and Enhanced Video Adapter installed in the system. 2. Start Windows 98. 3. Extract the drivers onto the hard disk. 4. Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel. 5. Open the System icon, and click on the Hardware tab tab. 6. Select Device Manager... 7. If you are installing this program for the first time, double-click on Other devices and then PCI Multimedia Device. Otherwise, double- click on Sound, video and game controllers, and IBM DVD decoder card. 8. Click on the Driver tab. 9. Click on Update Driver... 0. Click on Next. 11. If the device has been previously installed and this is an update, then select Have Disk... and enter the DVD drive and path of the DVD WDM driver. If you browse to the path, select IBMDVD.inf. 14. Select IBM DVD decoder card, and click on Next. 15. Click on Next again in the window that shows the full path to DVD.inf. The computer starts to install the MPEG driver. Follow the instructions on the screen. 16. After completing the installation, click on Finish, Close, and OK to close the Device Manager window. 17. Restart the system. Note: To use the hardware AC3 option (S/PDIF) on Windows 2000, it is necessary to access the system registry. 1. From the command shell or run window, execute regedit. 2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\IBMDVD 3. Under Edit, New, String Value add "HWAC3". 4. Double click on HWAC3 and in the value data field enter a "1" (DO NOT INCLUDE THE QUOTE MARKS). 5. When DVDPlay is executed, the hardware AC3 decoder is now active. To reenable software AC3, MPEG2 and LPCM you can change the HWAC3 value to "0", or delete the HWAC3 value name.
