    install ThinkPad AL Modem II driver
- Ethernet + Wireless LAN + Modem functions,
    install AMR Modem II driver
- Ethernet + Bluetooth + Modem functions,
    install Intel PRO/100 SP Mobile Combo Adapter Modem driver.


What This Packages Does
-----------------------
This package provides the Modem driver for Windows Me users.
The Modem driver enables or updates the modem function of 
"Intel(R) PRO/100 SP Mobile Combo Adapter" of the
following ThinkPad computers:

  - ThinkPad A21e Model Type 2655
  - Thinkpad A22e, A22m, A22p
  - ThinkPad A30, A30p
  - ThinkPad A31, A31p
  - Thinkpad T22, T23
  - Thinkpad X21, X22, X23, X24
  - ThinkPad i Series 1800 *

NOTE:  * Japanese models only (Windows 2000 and Me support only).

To enable the Ethernet function of the MiniPCI Combo, an another
package for Ethernet driver is also required.

To determine if you should update the Modem driver, refer to the
"Summary of Changes" section.

To update the Modem driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions" 
section.

Installation Instructions
-------------------------
NOTE:
ThinkPad Software Installer provides install/(uninstall) wizard for 
this package.

 1. Start Windows Me.
 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
 3. Click Start, then click Run.
 4. In the RUN dialog window, specify C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MDMINTSP\SETUP.EXE
    and click OK. 
 5. Follow the instructions. If you see the message Digital Signature 
    Not Found, click OK to continue installing.
 6. Restart the system for the driver to be effective.

Unattended install
------------------
NOTE: This is for system administrators' use only.
 1. Start Windows Me
 2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive.
    (Assume the location of extracted files is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MDMINTSP)
 3. Click Start, then click Run.
 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MDMINTSP\Setup.EXE -S, then click OK.

Uninstall
---------
 1. Start Windows Me.
 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control panel. 
 3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
 4. Select Lucent Win Modem. 
 5. Click Add/Remove. 
 6. Click Yes in the confirmation window.
 7. When asked to restart the system, click Yes. 

NOTE: If you do not remove the modem H/W, then Windows will detect the 
modem during the next boot.

Determining which version is installed 
--------------------------------------
 1. Start Windows Me. 
 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 
 3. Double-click Modems. 
 4. Click the Diagnostics tab. 
 5. Select the COM port labeled Lucent Win Modem. 
 6. Click More Info. 
 7. Check the Command | Response window to view the results of ATI3. 
     The version of the driver installed is displayed.
