    install Intel PRO/100 SP Mobile Combo Adapter Modem driver.


What This Packages Does
-----------------------
This package provides the Modem driver for Windows 95/98 users.
The Modem driver enables or updates the modem function of 
"Intel(R) PRO/100 SP Mobile Combo Adapter" of the
following ThinkPad computers:
  
  - ThinkPad A21e Model Type 2655
  - Thinkpad A22e, A22m, A22p
  - ThinkPad A30, A30p
  - ThinkPad A31, A31p
  - Thinkpad T22, T23
  - Thinkpad X21, X22, X23, X24
  - ThinkPad i Series 1800 *

NOTE:  * Japanese models only Windows 2000 and Me support only.

To enable the Ethernet function of the Mini PCI Combo, another
package for Ethernet driver is also required.

To determine if you should update the Modem driver, refer to the
"Summary of Changes" section.

To update the Modem driver, refer to the "Installation 
Instructions" section.

Installation Instructions
-------------------------
NOTE:
ThinkPad Software Installer provides install/(uninstall) wizard for
   this package.

Installing:
 1. Start Windows 95/98.
 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
 3. Click Start, then click Run.
 4. Specify SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the
    package in the step 2, and click OK. 
 5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
 6. Restart the system for the driver to be effective.

Unattended install
------------------
This is for system administrators' use only.

 1. Start Windows 95 or Windows 98.
 2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive.
    (Assume the location of extracted files is C:\Drivers\Win\Modem)
 3. Click Start, then click Run.
 4. Type C:\Drivers\Win\Modem\Setup.EXE -S, then click OK.

Uninstalling
------------
 1. Start Windows 95/98.
 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control panel.
 3. Double-click the Modems icon.
 4. Select Lucent Win Modem.
 5. Click the Remove button.
 6. Click Close in the Modems Properties window.
   
NOTE: Unless the modem H/W is removed, the Windows will detect the
          modem in the next boot.


Determining which version is installed 
--------------------------------------

 1. Start Windows 95/98
 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
 3. Double-Click Modems icon.
 4. Click Diagnostics tab.
 5. Select COM port with the name Lucent Win Modem.
 6. Click More Info button.
 7. Check Command | Response window to check the result of ATI3. The
    version of the driver installed is displayed.
