Installation Instructions ------------------------- - NOTE 1: To determine if you should update the Modem drive, refer to the Summary of Changes section. - NOTE 2: ThinkPad Software Installer provides install/(uninstall) wizard for this package. INSTALL: 1. Start Windows Me. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. Specify C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MDMLUC\SETUP.EXE, and click OK. 5. Follow the instructions. If you see the message Digital Signature Not Found appears, please click the OK button to continue installing. 6. Restart the system for the driver to be effective. Unattended Installation ----------------------- This is for system administrators' use only. 1. Start Windows Me 2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MDMLUC\SETUP.EXE -S, then click OK. Uninstall --------- 1. Start Windows Me. 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. 4. Select Lucent Win Modem. 5. Click Add/Remove. 6. Click Yes in the confirmation window. 7. When asked to restart the system, click Yes. If you don't remove the modem H/W, the Windows detect the modem in the next boot. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- If there is an alphabet letters in the version number, check the date stamp of each file which version is installed. Start Windows Me 2. Click on Start, point to Search, then click For Files or Folders. 3. In the Serch for files or folders named: field, type the file name listed above table. 4. Check if C: is included in the Look in: field. 5. Click Search Options link and check Advanced Options check box. Then check Search Subfolders check box. 6. Click the Find Now button. Windows Me will now search your hard disk drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, then the Modem driver is not installed on your system. 7. When finished searching, select the file name, scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column to check the date/time of the each file. To check the driver version. 1. Start Windows Me. 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click Modems. 4. Click Diagnostics. 5. Select the COM port with the name Lucent Win Modem. 6. Click More Info. 7. Check Command | Response window to check the result of ATI3. The version of the driver installed is displayed.
